Currently, there are many social issues around the world, ranging from climate change and resource challenges to the need to create a more diverse society. Even in Japan, natural disasters are now occurring with unprecedented frequency due to rapid climate change, while economic disparities are widening, and human rights issues related to LGBTQ people are becoming more apparent.
In order for a company to grow and prosper in the future, it is necessary that not only the company itself, but also the entire society around the company is prosperous and sustainable. It is not enough for a company to pursue only its own profits while neglecting others. As an important member of society, a company must consider what it can and should do for society. We believe that our efforts to solve social issues will lead to the realization of a sustainable society. For this reason, we have set “to contribute to society by emphasizing sustainability” as one of the missions of our Group’s Management Philosophy.
The Ultrafabrics Group provides customers with high-quality, high-performance, long-lasting synthetic leather products that are an alternative to genuine leather products made from animals. Our products are more durable and lighter than genuine leather, which greatly contributes to an improvement of resource productivity due to longer service life, as well as a reduction in CO2 emissions during aircraft and automobile operations for the aviation and automobile industries, where we have major customers. I am proud to say that our Group’s business itself contributes to the sustainability of society as a whole.
The novel coronavirus has brought about major changes in the behavior and values of people around the world, and the movement toward a more sustainable society seems to be accelerating. Under the leadership of the Chief Sustainability Officer, our Group is committed to doing its utmost to become a leading company in the industry in terms of sustainability and to be the preferred choice for various stakeholders.
