Occupational Health and Safety

Approach toward occupational health and safety

Daiichi Kasei has also set a goal of zero occupational accidents in its management targets set every year. In the process from manufacturing to storage and shipping, there are human operations that involve physical and chemical hazards associated with the operation of various machines and the use of organic solvents. Therefore, we pay close attention to the safety and health management of all employees and strive to create a comfortable work environment free from accidents and health hazards through risk assessment.
Ultrafabrics also has similar hazards in its warehousing operations and is committed to thorough safety management.

Specific initiatives for occupational health and safety

In order to maintain a safe workplace environment, we monitor VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) levels at Daiichi Kasei plants every six months to ensure that they are maintained below regulatory limits. At the same time, we also conduct regular health checkups for our employees.
In addition, in order to achieve our goal of zero occupational accidents, we manage qualifications for handling various types of equipment and continuously provide training. In 2022, the number of occupational accidents per 1,000,000 hours was 6.5, almost halving the number of accidents in the previous year.

Health management initiatives

Given that the threat of the novel coronavirus has not disappeared, our Group places the highest priority on the safety of its employees, business partners, and local residents, and is taking basic infection control measures such as wearing masks, washing hands, thorough disinfection, and maintaining social distance, especially in situations where large numbers of people gather and at plant sites where many people collaborate.

Work style reform initiatives

In response to the spread of the novel coronavirus, our Group has introduced a telecommuting system, except for plant and warehouse workers. We also promote the use of online courses for management training and English training whenever possible.
